SPECIAL NEEDS MINISTRY

The Special Needs Ministry is designed for mentally retarded Teens and Adults who are capable of interacting with others and learning. A class for Special Needs individuals is being held each Sunday morning at 10 a.m. and Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The church is handicap-accessible through the entrance at the rear of the building.

Having this class provides families with special needs individuals the opportunity to attend church together as a family unit. For more information on this ministry, or to be involved in this ministry, please call the church at 270-773-3643, or call Beau and Tammy Bruton at 270-773-4546.

S.N.O.W. MINISTRIES

It clearly states in Scripture that "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." (Matt. 18;20)  I had heard this verse many times, but never fully experienced it until Tammy and I started S.N.O.W. Ministries- with one student- her cousin, Jeremy.  But it was what God had called us to do and we were being faithful at it.  Then Adam came to church and our class size doubled!!  Not many weeks later was the first time Ada and Glenda came and again our class size doubled.
In between prayer, preparing lesson plans and living our normal, everyday lives , we also went to places where special needs people went.  When we saw one at Wal-Mart, the bank, etc., we stopped and invited them and their family to church.  This is something we still do as we continue to grow the ministry.  Although the class is larger and we have several great volunteers, it is still a lot of work maintaining and growing a ministry such as this.
So, what is the best part of S.N.O.W?  Once you make a friend of a special needs person, they will more than likely be your best friend for life.  Some have come and gone from the ministry, but all remain our friends.  we often get calls at home from them, are greeted quite affectionately at church by them and they are genuinely concerned when their friends do not make it to church.  What a lesson for the rest of us "normal" Christians to learn.  Although they are the ones mentally challenged and developmentally disabled, I feel it is often us that have the "problems" to deal with.
No, they are not quite like us, but then again, God made all of us one of a kind originals.  Think of it this way, there are no two snowflakes alike and there is not another person like us or them.  Still, like snowflakes, we all have some similarities.  Snowflakes are all white and wet and all of us need love, grace, compassion and salvation.
The next time a student from S.N.O.W. approaches you, don't simply see them as "one of the special needs folks."  Look at them through the eyes of Jesus, as fearfully and wonderfully made.  You may just make a new best friend.

MUSIC MINISTRY

·         If music is your gift, there are several ways to be involved.  The church has a Praise Band and Worship Group that leads in worship in both the Sunday morning and Sunday evening services.  Musicians and singers are scheduled in advance for each of the Sunday services.  Practice time is 9:00 a.m. each Sunday morning.  If you’re interested in participating, please see our Worship Leader, Chris Summers.

·         We also encourage special music in our services.  If you sing solo, or as part of a group, and would like to be scheduled for special music in a service, please see the Special Music coordinator, Kathy Keiley.

OTHER MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

There are many other Ministry areas to be involved in.  Maintenance, Grounds, Education, Hospitality, and Greeters, are just a few.  If you have interest in serving in any of these, or other capacities, please contact Bro. Wayne.  There is a place for everyone to be involved at Cave City Christian Church!

LIBRARY MINISTRY

We are pleased to have an extensive Church Library available for use. The Library currently contains 1900 volumes of Christian books, over 300 videos and CD’s, as well as many other publications and other materials, and is growing rapidly. All items are available for use at the church, or to be checked out for use at home. The Library is completely catalogued, making it easy to find books, movies, research materials, etc., that would be of interest to you.

The Library ministry is a great place to get involved, if you’re looking for something to do at church. To volunteer to help, call the church at 270-773-3643 and leave information for our Library contact, Jan Green. The Library is open for use before and after each church service, as well as other special times. Access to the Library can be scheduled for any special time by calling the church office and making the arrangement.

YOUTH MINISTRIES

Our young people remain one of our top priorities here at Cave City Christian.  With a full range of Youth Programs on Sundays and Wednesday nights, Youth Camps, Youth Retreats, and other special trips and activities, our Youth department is always in need of more help.  If you would like to be involved in the Youth department by serving as a teacher, chaperone, host an activity, assist with Youth meetings, or help with any other need, please contact our Youth Minister, Chris Parker, at 270-773-3643.

COUNSELING MINISTRY

Marriage counseling, Financial counseling, and other counseling ministries are available by appointment at the church.  One of the Ministers on staff or one of the Elders will make an appointment to meet with you at the church to consider your counseling needs.  If members of the Staff or Church Leadership feel qualified to help you, they will gladly do so.  If they feel that your situation requires more professional assistance than they can give, they will help locate a professional counselor for you.  And always, they will pray with you and for you.

MISSIONS MINISTRY

Our church is very active in Missions outreach around the world.  In addition to the Missionary efforts we support financially, we also organize and send out Mission teams as opportunities present themselves.

We have an ongoing direct support Mission effort in the village of Mocolicxot, Guatemala.  We are developing a ministry there that includes a village Feeding Center, as well as strengthening and supporting the church there.

We also strive to assist people closer to home who might be experiencing some need.  Our active Missions committee is constantly working to support the needs that arise.

See the Missions Opportunities page on this web site for even more information on Mission efforts that we support on a continual basis.

CLOTHES CLOSET

Each Thursday, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, we open the church basement for free clothing for anyone who needs it.  Good, gently-used clothing is available in many sizes, for both children and adults.

If you are available during the day, and enjoy meeting and greeting people, this might be a great ministry for you to consider.  This is a wonderful opportunity to talk with people and be a witness for Christ, just by giving away clothing in His name.

Noma Page is the director of this ministry.  You can contact her at 773-3877, or just show up on Thursdays to help!
